It’s been over 15 years since I last watched Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. It became something of a Sunday morning ritual for me when I was ten. Sesame Street, Mister Rogers and then 3 hours of Square One TV.

Gotta be honest, the show bored the shit out of me then. I guess Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood just wasn’t cool anymore. It was just 30 minutes of filler in an otherwise boring time, but when Fred Rogers was on the screen, he was the cool old guy from down the street. He’d show you that neat thing he had stored in his basement from when HIS kids were your age. He was there to listen and to understand your little unimportant problems, but in the end give you the advice you needed or the story that made everything OK, just for a moment.

You never know how much you’ll miss someone until they’re gone. He’ll still be there in reruns, as always, to make everything better. Just for a moment.

Rest in peace, man.

Buffy

BTVS was another solid outing this week, but weird. This was an Andrew-centric episode which was also a catch-up-for-those-of-you-just-joining-us episode but also tied up an old plotline while furthering several more. Whew.

Schizophrenic goodness from the Buffy team but please, no more filler eps till Faith comes back. We all know you guys can come up with 3 good character-driven stories before then.

Angel

I finally got my Angel Season 1 DVD Collection today, no thanks to the jerks at the post office. I’ll be watching it tonight in lieu of the new Lone Ranger movie cause frankly, it looks awful.

The good news is Angel is back next week with my dear sweet innocent Eliza Dushku as Faith. Kickass. Faith/Cordy bitchfight. It’s on, baybee!

ENOUGH WITH REALITY TV

So I’m watching Alias and enjoying the hell out of it as usual on Sunday night when I see not one, not two but THREE new “Reality Series” pimped on ABC. Besides the awfulness of “Are You Hot?”, they are now looking for an All-American Girl, showing us what it’s like on the front lines and you know what? I don’t give a damn if you’re a celebrity, get off my screen.

I choose to use, abuse and defend my right to change the channel. So-called “Reality TV”, with the exception of “Tough Enough”, offends me and needs to go away.

It blows my mind that of the Game Shows that exploded onto the scene just 2 years ago, only Fear Factor remains on Prime-Time TV. “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” was kwality tv, folks. We just don’t know what we’re missing.

Rasslin’

The Rock is back, Hogan’s back, Austin’s back. Yawn. The only guy I’ve missed from that group is The Rock and he’s going Hollywood again soon. His promos were hilarious on Monday and he did more to put over the younger guys on Monday in 15 minutes than any of the rest of them have in months. And the McMahons wonder why they’re losing money….

That’s all for now. Hope to not make the week hiatus a tradition or anything.

Re: Joe Halfamillionaire

The look on Sara’s face when she found out he was pennyless was worth wading through all the crap. The payoff was nice but predictable. For the record, I only watched the last hour.

The comforting thing to me is, the shock factor is gone. FOX can likely never do that one again. Yay.

Re: Emulation

This one’s a two-parter and it might go a bit long.

Microsoft buys Virtual PC. Maybe the Mac Business Unit can pull out a miracle and make it not suck. My money’s on not. Hey, Office X turned out OK, right?

MacMAME delayed again This is not gonna make me a popular guy, but who wants to be popular?

Brad Oliver needs to hand the project over to someone with the skill and time to do it. Move it over to Project Builder, use XMame as a base, whatever. 9 Months without an update is ridiculous and everybody that’s bowing and scraping to Brad should be ashamed.

He got upset because people are asking for status updates? Tough. You promise something and don’t deliver, people are gonna get bitchy. Shit or get off the pot and while you’re at it, update that tired interface to something that’s usable. People have been begging for an skinnable MacMame. I think it’s time to listen.

Television

Buffy was really weird this week. It was a good ep in a string of excellent ones(Angel’s still been better this year) but a few things bothered me.

When did Willow’s new girl become the Head Slayerette? She’s been there as long as the rest. Guess they’re just trying to get her over as a strong replacement for Tara or something.

Speaking of the Slayerettes, there’s like 20 of them. Where were they in the scenes in the house with the main cast? Sucked into the Intergalactic Plothole? Out patrolling? Whatevah.

OK, so the Joe Millionaire finale is tonight and I just gotta ask the question on everybody’s mind. “Who gives a damn?”. I mean, come on FOX. Give this so-called reality TV a rest already.

Evan will choose one girl, reveal the lie and then we find out he’s really worth $49 Million or gay or the butler’s bitch or he’s already married to Zora who is secretly having an affair with Sara who’s fucking the butler behind Evan’s back who is still secretly gay. In the end, it’s still a really dumb concept.

And if you’re asking, yes I’ll probably watch. Why, you may ask?

Well, I AM evil. I wanna see the look on the chick’s face when she finds out she’s been conned, hopefully Sara. Delightfully Evil.

Daredevil has been bashed by critics. It has been dissed by certain overzealous fans. Guess what, folks? $43.5M estimated opening weekend.
